Herkules Hops T90 Pellets – Germany
The Powerhouse of German Bittering |
Alpha Acid: 12.0% – 17.0% (ให้ความขมหลัก)
Beta Acid: 4.0% – 5.5% (ช่วยเรื่องความเสถียรของความขม)
Total Oil: 1.4 – 2.4 mL/100g (ปริมาณน้ำมันหอมระเหยสูง)
Imperial Stout
Herkules Hops: The Powerhouse of German Bittering
Heritage & Character Developed at the Hop Research Center Hüll and released in 2005, Herkules was bred from a cross between Hallertau Taurus and a powdery mildew-resistant male. As its name suggests, it is a “High-Alpha” giant, standing as one of the most widely planted bittering hops in Germany. It is prized for its high yield, excellent storage stability, and a robust bitterness profile that remains smooth and clean.
Flavor & Aroma Profile While primarily a bittering hop, Herkules is surprisingly complex. When used in later additions, it reveals a distinct Spicy and Floral backbone, complemented by notes of Pine, Black Pepper, and a subtle hint of Honeydew Melon. Its high oil content ensures that its presence is felt even in beers with a heavy malt base.
Brewing Performance
Bitterness: Sharp, powerful, yet refined. It provides a “firm” bitterness that doesn’t linger harshly on the palate.
Efficiency: Due to its high Alpha Acid content, you can use less hop material to achieve target IBUs, making it highly cost-effective for commercial breweries.
Technical Specifications:
Alpha Acid: 12.0% – 17.0%
Beta Acid: 4.0% – 5.5%
Total Oil: 1.4 – 2.4 mL/100g
Myrcene: 30% – 50% of total oil
Cohumulone: 32% – 38%
Beer Styles: German Pilsner, Munich Helles, Märzen, Doppelbock, Imperial Stouts, and West Coast IPAs.
Perfect Base: Use Herkules at the 60-minute mark to establish a clean bittering foundation, then layer with noble hops like Hallertau Mittelfrüh or Tettnanger for a classic German finish.
