Light Toast Oak Chips, 1oz
Oak chips are intended for use in all phases of winemaking. They contribute to the reduction of vegetal characters, bind color, and build middle body and mouth feel when used during fermentation. Post fermentation will tend to offer noticeable toasty oak components, lift the nose and enhance the body of the wine. In addition, it will impart premium oak characteristics. A small amount added just prior to bottling will heighten the finished oak character and leave a lingering toasty quality. French Light Oak provides oak structure without being overwhelming, lifting the varietals attributes and allowing the fruit to shine prominently. The flavors provide delicate sweetness, creaminess and roundness to the mouth feel with a fruit driven finish.
Sanitize oak chips by steaming or mixing with a small amount of boiling water. Place the oak chips in a steeping bag and submerge in the liquid after fermentation has ceased. Flavor will develop up to 2 weeks. Remove the oak chips when the intended level of flavor is achieved.
